- Raw materials are ground to 35 mesh to ensure powder flows into all mold corners and details. Granule size depends on material flow properties and product shape; thinner walls require finer granules. - Ideal granules are uniform and smooth. Granules are heated in a closed mold rotating on two axes (horizontal and vertical) at 205-315°C. The main factor for maximum product size is oven size. The mold is separated from the arm and moved to other stations in the process cycle. - The process takes 6-10 minutes, can be as fast as 2 minutes in some cases, or up to 15 minutes for large, thick-walled products at slower speeds (0-40 rpm on the secondary axis, 0-12 rpm on the main axis). A 4:1 rotation ratio is most common. Some machines allow different speeds and ratios. - Some machines use a curing stage between heating and cooling for molecular crosslinking, while others inject inert gases during heating to prevent property loss, color changes, and odors. Cold gas may be injected for faster cooling of thick parts. - Molds are made from cast aluminum, thin steel sheets, or electroformed copper for optimal heat transfer. A wall thickness of 0.25 inch is recommended for hot air machines. - Any shape or size can be produced (with some exceptions) with wall thickness from 15 to 500 mm and wall thickness variation not exceeding +5%. The external surface can match the required finish, and corners are stress-free due to no pressure during forming. Tanks from 100 to 10,000 liters, even up to 50,000 liters, can be produced.
